I want to explain a little bit about us as well as giving you some Hints and Tips about buying online – you will find these in the section below headed “Buying Online – Be Careful”.

Buying Online – Be Careful

To be completely secure we suggest that you do the following:

Check out the credibility of the store

Do they have a landline? Give them a call and have a chat to them. Ask some questions about the items you are interested and gauge some sort of idea about the quality of the person you are dealing with.

Have they got certification from recognised comparison sites like PriceCheck, OneShop or ShopMania?

Are they approved resellers of reputable suppliers?

Are there any negative reviews about the store on Hello Peter?

Is the company’s address in a reputable area or business premises?

 

Is the Site Platform Secure?

We use Thawte to secure our information. This is the organisation started by Mark Shuttleworth – you know the South African who made gazillions of Rands and even went into space!!
He was clever enough to develop software that keeps all the info that you put on our site secure from people who want to use it for devious purposes. This means that you can shop on our site knowing that your details are safe and secure and that no syndicate from Eastern Europe is having a nice meal using your credit card details.

For the technically inclined here are some more details:

“SSL123 is Thawte’s entry level certificate which provides validation that your domain is registered abd that you have authorised the purchase of the certificate. Through SSL encryption, the certificate assures that information is kept private between your web server and your clients’ web browsers”

“When online customers feel secure, they are more likely to complete a purchase or personalise their profile and return to your website. What inspires confidence online? An SSL certificate from a globally recognised certificate authority such as Thawte. Expert site security!”

 

What is the store’s warranty, replacement and repair policy?

Check that the stores products are covered by normal warranty policies as would normally be recognisable for that type of product. So if it is a cellular product check that the warranty is 2 years (other than for Apple which has a worldwide 1 year warranty). If it is less than this then the item could be a “grey” import.

Likewise, check out the swap out and repair policy. If these are not handled locally then you could have a problem. Do you really want to wait for months while your handset is sent to Europe or China for repairs. Stock from reputable suppliers will always be swapped out from local stock or repaired locally.

Online shopping should be safe, secure and a hassle free experience. Don’t let unscrupulous retailers ruin it for you or other honest online shops.

We started Bfore Media in 2008 with a model based on direct selling through agents and call centres. Our goal was to assist people who wanted cellular contracts but didn’t qualify through the networks.

This then expanded further to selling electronic household items.

In 2011 we took the whole process online giving you the ability to login to a secure platform and buy a product. This has now evolved into also being able to offer product finance for your purchase.

Our Warranty, Replacement and Repair Policy

Warranties:

As we buy all our stock from reputable suppliers we can offer you the full standard warranty for each product type that we sell.

Cellular 2 years (except for Apple who have a 1 year worldwide policy)
Tablets 1 to 2 years
Televisions 1 to 2 years
Laptops 1 to 3 years (quite often extended warranties are available)

Replacements:

We will swap out any product that is delivered faulty or not working properly.
Cellular items have a 7 to 30 day swap out period.

Repairs:

We will facilitate repairs for you on all products that are in or out of warranty.
You can take items to repair centres yourself but we are often able to get it done quicker for you.
